Experiential Installation
This is an experiential installation where we went through the history of feminism with the game of Snakes and Ladders.
Each squares on the board represent a woman, a fact, an event. A ladder would be a positive relation, this square was indispensable to new square. It also sheds light on the misogyny or issues that existed/exists in terms of Snakes. Like the original game, there are more snakes at the end! Just to illuminate how far we have come, and how much more is desired.
The artwork on the squares were co-created with the help of the community. I held workshops where I they drew or painted with symbols, portraits of the celebrated women.
This is currently at Fargo Village in Coventry.
